There is no parallel to the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. Nowhere else in the world can you find a situation in which such a large community is forced to live as refugees in its own country in pitiable conditions, sheltered in camps. The Central government is now asking them to return to the Valley. But how can they return when they will have no freedom to practise their religion, profess the love for their country and live in safety ? The government should first ensure that the conditions are conducive for their return.
As a nation, we came out weak-kneed and did not even think of safeguarding our own land. "Be it the newly-born Bangladesh, China with its designs to grab land or Russia, every nation has firm policy for expanding its borders. But India has been finding to protect Kashmir while it has turned a blind eye to incursions by China on all borders in north-eastern states while Bangladeshis are eyeing land in assam."
"Only the voice of the strong is heard. It is time that we as nation, forgetting political lines, started thinking of our sovereignty."
